Inner Circle

Rob Lang's Laboratory The blog of Icar's author. The blog of Icar's author, this page contains details on artificial intelligence, art, music, tutorials and a load of stuff about Rob.
Chom Isis Online web based game. Chom Isis is a web game derived from an idea had in Icar. Players control the lives of people they look after (pawns) while murdering the pawns of other players.
Entalis Free Sci Fi game by Rob Barrows Entalis is a large and detailed RPG that is based in a number of coherent realities. High Science Fiction is taken to its limit while still weaving in elements that one might find in a Fantasy game. If you like Icar, you'll love this.

Outer Circle

Desert Realm Online PBP community Desert Realm is an online fantasy play by post community. The quality of the writers and admins is excellent and is the favourite fantasy hang-out of the Icar author.
1KM1KT Excellent Free RPG community and host for Free RPGS 1000 Monkeys, 1000 Typewriters is a community for free RPGs. Run by the energetic Keeton Harrington, it acts as host for a number of free PDF roleplaying games. Although still a community like the others, the focus of 1KM1KT is free games and for that, it gets a special mention.
The Forge The original Indie Community. The Forge is the vision of Ron Edwards and Clinton R. Nixon, both independent games designers. This is the benchmark for sites regarding independent roleplaying games. The Forge provides a number of articles and a resource library but the real power is in the forum, where new designers post their ideas, gameplay stories and more. This is where the Forge excels. The Forge is also the home of the Gamist/Narritavist/Simulationist (GNS) theory of roleplaying - a tool to try and help explain roleplaying concepts. You don't have to know about GNSto enjoy the lively critique, though.
theRPG Site A no-nonsense RPG community. The RPG Site is a no-nonsense RPG community which hosts News Articles, Reviews, Blogs and the obligatory forums. TheRPGSite concentrates on honest, no-nonsense commentary and although this might not to be to everyone's taste, it's another point of view. Home to the RPGPundit, a man who really does speak his mind, often saying things that others are thinking.
RPG Outpost A Sci Fi RPG community for supporting designers, GMs and players. RPG Outpost is relatively new to the scene of RPG communities and has a lot to offer, focussing on the Sci Fi part of the hobby. There are lots of respected writers to be found on there, sharing resources and giving advice. I'd heartily recommend it as a stopping point.
Cubicle Seven A games publisher run by a good friend of mine, Angus. Publishers of the excellent SLA Industries. Publishers of two games, SLA Industries (wonderfully dark Sci Fi, definitely check it out) and Victoriana (steampunk set in Victorian England. Super) both games I wish I'd thought of. Most of the games are available on RPG now but there are hard copy versions of SLA out there. Next to Icar, SLA is definitely my most favourite game.
